Driving towards a sustainable future – Volvo Cars welcomes Vanessa Butani as Head of Global Sustainability

Volvo Cars has recently named Vanessa Butani as the new Head of Global Sustainability, effective from April 1, 2024. Butani will be taking over from Anders Kärrberg, who is retiring after leading the Global Sustainability Team since its inception in 2019. In her new role, Butani will be responsible for leading Volvo Cars' sustainability efforts and steering the development of their sustainability strategy. Additionally, she will play a crucial part in the company's transition from being a prominent car manufacturer to becoming a leading provider of sustainable mobility solutions. Having served as the VP Group Sustainability at Electrolux Group, a renowned global appliance company, Butani brings a wealth of experience in driving sustainability and strategy. Her expertise was instrumental in the development of Electrolux Group's sustainability platform and the achievement of their Science Based Targets.

Vanessa Butani's appointment aligns perfectly with Volvo Cars' commitment to selling only fully electric vehicles by 2030. The company has recently announced an intensified action plan, which is already considered one of the most ambitious in the automotive industry. Butani will be based at the global headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, reporting directly to CEO Jim Rowan and joining the Group Management Team.
