Einride Smartcharger Station – revolutionising electric road freight
Here on ellectric, we have already introduced you to Einride – the freight mobility company that is leading the charge in digital, electric, and autonomous technology. Only lately we published the insightful ‘5+1’ interview with Corinne Aaron, Einride’s new CMO.
Einride is revolutionising freight with electric trucks, autonomous vehicles, and a cloud-powered freight mobility platform. Through the integration of AI and machine learning, they aim to fundamentally transform and optimize the efficiency and sustainability of the entire freight network. Now they announced the opening of their first Einride Smartcharger Station in Rosersberg, Sweden. It signifies Einride's commitment to establishing a global charging infrastructure for heavy-duty freight. This significant investment is in partnership with Polar Structure, a renowned infrastructure developer and investor.
Emphasising driver experience and sustainable design choices
The Einride Smartcharger Station prioritises driver experience and sustainable design. It offers nine charging points, allowing up to eight trucks to charge simultaneously. Divided into "Charge & Go" for fast charging and "Charge & Park" for overnight charging, the station features interactive lighting and a driver's lounge with amenities and provides real-time updates, like charge status, remaining time to drivers through screens inside the lounge or the smartphone app.
Discover a sleek charging station that seamlessly combines functionality and durability. Featuring locally sourced materials like Bohus granite and Swedish wood, this site showcases impressive design elements. Its modular construction allows for easy relocation, minimizing waste and ensuring a smooth transition. Powered by renewable energy, the site will initially rely on wind power and transition to hydropower in the future. With enhanced integration into the Einride Saga platform, energy efficiency is maximised, making this charging station a leading example of sustainable power consumption.
Expansion in 2024
Einride is expanding its Smartcharger Stations in Sweden to meet the growing demand for charging heavy-duty transport vehicles. Borås, Markaryd, and Ljungby already have smaller stations, and a full-scale Smartcharger Station will open in Varberg in 2024. Additionally, the first Einride Smartcharger Station in the US will open in Los Angeles, featuring 65 charging points to accommodate up to 200 vehicles daily at the Port of LA.
