Lamborghini unveils its electric concept car Lanzador
During Monterey Car Week, Lamborghini made a thrilling announcement by unveiling their concept car, the Lanzador. This visionary preview of their future fourth model, set to release in 2028, is a remarkable display of Lamborghini's commitment to decarbonisation and electrification as part of their Direzione Cor Tauri strategy.
As electric vehicles continue to dominate the automotive industry, Lamborghini's entry into this market is a significant milestone, underscoring the brand's ability to adapt and innovate without compromising its distinct identity.
What sets the Lanzador apart is its rebellious and futuristic design, while still retaining Lamborghini's unmistakable DNA of charisma and sportiness. It introduces an innovative Gran Turismo 2+2 concept, offering a truly unique experience tailored to the tech-savvy generation.
“With this concept, we are ushering in a new car segment, the Ultra GT, which is poised to offer customers a new and unparalleled driving experience, one that’s quintessentially Lamborghini, thanks to groundbreaking technologies.“ – Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini
Exterior and interior design
Lamborghini looks into the future with the Lanzador concept car, creating a new car segment – the Ultra GT. Its design is inspired by spaceships and features taut, clean lines that are reminiscent of iconic Lamborghini models, while the aerodynamic approach provides an incomparably low look. Inside the cabin, there is a true pilot's driving position for a new Lamborghini experience in terms of space and roominess.
Lamborghini's interior design follows a "feel like a pilot" philosophy and takes the 2+2 GT concept further by allowing for rear space to be used for sports equipment or luggage. The concept car features an adjustable rear seat and a variable luggage compartment in the rear. It has slim headlights inspired from the Countach LPI 800-4, and its hexagonal-shaped taillights include a light signature with three LED elements on each side. Characteristic Lamborghini design cues, including the Y and hexagon shapes, can be found throughout the car in both exterior and interior elements.
The interior is defined by a slim and lightweight dashboard incorporating iconic Y-shape design elements. The low seating position of the pilot and co-pilot, resembling a jet cabin, is combined with performance and seat positioning of a super sports car. Ergonomically positioned within the driver's reach is a pilot’s unit to control entertainment, climate control and new digital functions. Passengers receive information via automatically retractable displays, while the Lamborghini ANIMA control allows drivers to switch between Efficiency and Performance modes for optimal driving dynamics.
Sustainable materials
The interior of the Lanzador demonstrates Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability, implementing Italian-made sustainable materials such as Merino wool, recycled material regenerated nylon for colored thread, 3D-printed recycled fibers for foam and seat upholstery, and regenerated carbon for the center console and door panels. The Lanzador concept car pushes today's technical possibilities without compromising look, feel, quality or durability.
Lanzador marks a significant milestone for Lamborghini, reflecting the company's active commitment to electrifying its entire vehicle lineup and achieving decarbonization. As part of a comprehensive strategy to reduce CO2 emissions and embrace a more sustainable future, this new concept car exemplifies Lamborghini's visionary approach. Embarking on a future of electrification, Lamborghini remains steadfast in upholding its core values of unrivaled performance, innovative technologies, iconic design, and leadership in the luxury automotive industry. This unwavering dedication propels Lamborghini towards an electrifying tomorrow, where driving experiences transcend the boundaries of imagination.
