NIO unveils its first sedan – the ET7
With the ET7, recently presented at the NIO Day 2020, Chinese electric car manufacturer NIO hits the market with its first electric sedan with self-driving technology and a range of up to 1000 km. So far, the brand only offered premium SUV’s with its ES6 and ES8. Last year we tested the ES8 and explored Munich and its surroundings. Find our review here. NIO now gives Tesla a run for its money with the ET7. Deliveries will start from the first quarter of 2022. For the time being, the cars of NIO are only available on the Chinese market. But that is about to change. Worldwide sales are planned.
The ET7 features the brands’ latest technology in the field of autonomous driving NAD (NIO Autonomous Driving). With the NIO Aquila Super Sensing (featuring 33 high-performance sensor units) and the NIO Adam supercomputer, users will be able to experience a safe and relaxed autonomous driving.
What is particularly striking is the range of up to 1000 km. However not in every version as the ET7 comes in three different: a standard 70-kWh battery with a driving range of 500 km, a 100-kWh battery with a range of 700 km and the newly 150-kWh battery pack with a range of up tp 1000 km. The ET7 will be available with all-wheel drive, a 180 kW electric motor pulling at the front axle and a 300 kW electric motor pushing at the rear. The system output is 480 kW with a maximum torque of 850 Newton metres. From 0 to 100 km/h the ET7 accelerates in 3.9 seconds.
As we already know from the ES8, NIO places high value on design, clearly visible in the exterior and interior design. So do they with the ET7. The exterior as well as interior is very minimalist creating a high level of comfort and space. With the ET7 NIO developed further its concept of a ‘mobile living room’. New are sustainable materials in the interior by use of renewable rattan (Karuun®).
Besides the ET7 features the next version of the Nomi digital assistant. Located on the centre console, Nomi can interact with the passengers. For driver control a 12.8-inch touchscreen has been integrated. The panoramic roof conveys even more space while the passenger have a clear view to the sky. The sound system with its 23 speakers will provide you with a great immersive sound.
We really like the minimalist design language of the ET7 and with it the brand sets a new standard for premium electric vehicles. We can’t wait to experience it ourselves. The ET7 will start at a price from 56.500€.
