Nissan marks London design studio's 20th anniversary with the reveal of the Nissan Concept 20-23
Nissan, the renowned Japanese automobile manufacturer, has marked a monumental milestone in its design history. The company just celebrated the 20th anniversary of its London design studio with the unveiling of its new Concept 20-23 show car. This futuristic automobile exemplifies Nissan's passion for innovation and technology and is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of Nissan's design team.
The design
The Nissan Concept 20-23 was designed by a talented team, including some of the youngest members of Nissan Design Europe (NDE). Their mission was simple: create a car that they would love driving on the bustling streets of their city.
The name Concept 20-23 has a lot of significance. It represents NDE's 20-year presence in London, while the numbers 2 and 3 (ni and san) pay homage to the company's traditions. Plus, it coincides with the current year. This car also follows in the footsteps of Nissan's iconic Pike cars, like the Be-1, Pao, Figaro, and S-Cargo, bringing a fresh, 21st-century twist to the world of small hatchbacks and city cars.
The Nissan's Concept 20-23 perfectly blends online racing and Nissan’s Formula E involvement in this playful and modern twist on a small car. The concept car combines aerodynamic exterior with a muscular look, featuring extreme addenda and deep skirts for airflow. Its front headlights have a distinctive upper and lower semi-circle LED shape, while the rear lights have squared off forms to maximise downforce. Inside the car, two scissor doors open up to two deep bucket seats with head support and side bars for entry. The interior is minimally decorated with screens displaying vital information to reflect Nissan's Formula E entrant.
