Sennheiser enters the automotive sector
The German audio specialist Sennheiser enters the automotive sector with the AMBEO audio system. The collaboration takes place with Karma, the California automotive manufacturer for luxury electric cars. The AMBEO audio system, which offers an impressive immersive audio experience and at the same time crystal-clear sound during calls will be presented in the 2020 Karma Revero GT. Several speakers on two main levels are completed by a subwoofer. The headrests are integrated into the loudspeaker concept for the perfect immersive sound experience in the interior of the vehicle.
Audio sources and volume can be controlled via the user-friendly graphic interface. The driver as well as the passenger have the possibility to adapt the sound to their individual preferences. They can also determine the degree of immersion and their own position within the sound space. Beamforming technology ensures excellent communication during a call. The voice is recorded precisely, while wind, engine and rolling noises are efficiently dampened. It is up to the passengers whether they want to take part in the conversation or continue to enjoy music or films <and be undisturbed.

The Revero GT is produced at the Innovation and Customization Center in Moreno Valley, California. Powered by two electric motors, the model combines first-class design, innovative technology, individual configuration and an excellent driving experience.

For more than two years the engineers of Sennheiser have worked on the development and fine-tuning of the AMBEO technology for the automotive sector. “The main challenge was to bring immersive high-quality audio into the complex and difficult environment of the car, which is quite unlike our usual use cases for immersive audio and beamforming technologies,” said Dr. Véronique Larcher, Director AMBEO Immersive Audio at Sennheiser.
