The Grant Sinclair IRIS eTrike – a revolutionary design for urban commuting

The Grant Sinclair IRIS eTrike

The Iris eTrike, designed by Grant Sinclair, is set to hit the market soon. Grant, who is the nephew of the famous Sir Clive Sinclair, has revealed the latest version of the eTrike and has confirmed that it will be produced on a larger scale.

The latest eTrike features a sleek, futuristic design that can reach a speed of 48 km/h (30 mph) and travel up to 48 kilometres (30 miles) on a single battery charge. The removable Lithium-Ion battery is powered by one of four available motors: 250, 500, 750, or 1,000 watts. The Grant Sinclair IRIS eTrike has a foldable, ergonomic bucket seat and an impressive storage compartment that holds up to 100+ liters of cargo. It can be opened either from the interior or via the supplied RFID electronic key fob. The electric tricycle will stand up to any type of weather as its body is constructed with EPP foam and chromoly steel trike chassis making it waterproof. LED headlamps, indicator-repeaters and brake lights provide visibility on roads and a weatherproof canopy made from aviation acrylic has a de-mist function for added protection. Besides the IRIS etrike features a LCD display on the side indicating speed, distance, remaining battery life and power mode. A universal smartphone dock for GPS navigation and music playback is also added as well as a 120˚rear-view camera which streams real-time video to your docked device.

In May 2023, an IRIS eTrike prototype will go on display at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu as part of their MOTOPIA Exhibition. Mass production is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
