The new foldable e-scooter from Hyundai impresses with its simple design
In 2007, the Chinese automotive manufacturer Hyundai presented its first electric scooter “Iconiq“ at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The new prototype is based on the first study and has now a rear-wheel drive for more stability and safety, a high-performance lithium battery and front and rear lights. The new e-scooter has a range of 20 kilometers and is 20 km/h fast. With only 7.7 kg it’s very light and foldable for an easy transport.
The idea is that all future vehicles of the Hyundai Motor Group will receive special compartments in the car in which the foldable e-scooter can be easily transported and automatically be loaded. This enables the driver to experienced a pleasant mobility, especially for the first and last kilometers of the driving route.
“With the e-scooter that can be stowed in special compartments in the vehicle, we want to make our customers' lives as easy and pleasant as possible. With our electric scooter, commuting for the first and last kilometers is not only fun, but also helps to reduce traffic jams and emissions in city centers.” – DongJin Hyun, head of the robotics team at the Hyundai Motor Group
