A BMW M760e roadtrip from Munich to Lake Como and back
At ellectric, we never miss an opportunity to embark on a roadtrip – the music, the exhilarating feeling of the wind rippling through your hair and all those amazing sights along the drive. Above all, the vehicle is key – second only to the company, that is.
We were very delighted when BMW offered us an invitation to attend the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este again and a journey from Munich to Lake Como and back in their brand new BMW M760e xDrive.
End of last year, we have already tested the all-electric version of the BMW 7 Series, the i7 and brought back to you all highlights in terms of design and performance.
The BMW 7 Series certainly gets attention, with its size and its iconic front grille with the two big kidneys and split headlights. Despite this, it's probably one of the most modern sedans on the market. Inside you feel like you're in mobile living room. Absolute comfort meets quality, highest materials and space, giving it a great sense of openness.
Before heading to Villa d’Este and Villa Erba on Lake Como for the weekend, we spent Thursday driving to Vals in Switzerland with a stop at the 7132 hotel. On our ride, we enjoyed the lovely environment around us and of course driving the BMW M760e as its pure driving pleasure.
As the BMW M760e is a plug-in hybrid, it enjoys a maximum flexibility with the combination of a petrol engine and an electric motor. It is equipped with a powerful M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and the electric eDrive technology. Maximum driving pleasure with a total vehicle drive of up to 420 kW (571 hp). The BMW M760e can travel up to 80 km on electric power alone.
Quite handy are the Intelligent driving modes of the BMW M760e. In zero-emission zones, the new BMW M760e xDrive switches to pure electric drive so you can enjoy unrestricted access to inner-city areas.
Totally relaxed as you are sitting in a mobile living room with plenty of space, highly comfortable seats with massage function, did we arrive at the hotel in Vals. What needs to be added – a new feature is the use of exquisite cashmere wool for the seat surfaces exuding a soft and pleasantly warm feel. The next day we continued our journey to Lake Como.
On Sunday after a wonderful time at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, we continued our journey, but this time as co-driver or more precisely in the executive lounge on the back seat of the BMW M760e.
In the reclining seat, you can absolutely get comfortable. Put your legs up and enjoy the driving and the beautiful landscape on our way to our stopover in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. On Monday, we started our return journey to Munich and passed some of the most beautiful mountain passes.
Not only was the BMW M 760e equipped with the executive lounge, we also had the pleasure to experience the Theatre Screen in the back seat – a 31.3-inch touchscreen with 8K resolution that extends down from the headliner. Rear passengers can enjoy streaming, games, music, news and more all with surround sound. We absolutely enjoyed this feature, sitting in the back seat, being driven through beautiful mountain passes in Switzerland while streaming a series. With the touchscreen integrated into the back-seat door, allows you a convenient operation of the infotainment system, the BMW Theatre Screen, automatic climate control, seat adjustment and massage function. The BMW i7 offers cinema feeling at its best in a lounge chair with footrest. What a great experience.
