Mercedes-Benz collaborates with fashion designer to upcycle car materials for sustainable fashion

Mercedes-Benz honours sustainability in fashion design with the third Sustainability Prize at the renowned 38th Festival d’Hyères. This year's fashion finalists were challenged to incorporate upcycled materials from Mercedes-Benz cars into their looks for a chance to win. The repurposed components in this collection include airbags, seat covers and belts from Mercedes-Benz vehicles, as well as sun blinds, convertible roof fabric, and floor mats.

The Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Mentorship, in partnership with Estethica and Nanushka, continues to inspire and support sustainable fashion. To showcase the finalists' stunning looks, the campaign features the captivating 'C111' artwork by Michael Sailstorfer from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection. Fashion designer Petra Fagerstrom wins this year’s Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Prize.

The campaign featuring the C111 artwork by Michael Sailstorfer, photographed by Kristin-Lee Moolman and filmed by Zach Apo Tsang, showcased the finalists' competition looks on advocate Julia Hobbs and model Yannick Konan. The campaign also highlighted the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection's C111 artwork, a reinterpretation of the legendary Mercedes-Benz C111 by Berlin-based sculptor Michael Sailstorfer. This artwork aligns with the finalists' focus on upcycling materials and the festival's creative ethos.
