Embarking on a global journey with Lexie Alford and the new all-electric Ford Explorer

Lexie Alford, the youngest person to visit every country in the world, is embarking on an extraordinary journey. Having started on 8th September 2023, she has been kicking off her “Charge Around The Globe” in the new electric Ford Explorer. Departing from Nice, France, Lexie will travel across six continents and more than 30 countries.
Her mission? To showcase the incredible capabilities of an electric vehicle and make history as the first person to circumnavigate the globe in one.

And what does that mean to be the first person to circumnavigate the globe in one? To set a new record, Lexie must cover a minimum distance of 28.968 km, passing through two antipodean points, exploring at least five different continents, and starting and finishing her journey at the same spot.Officials from RecordSetter will be at various locations around the world to verify the attempt.

The journey is inspired by Aloha Wanderwell. Over 100 years ago, she made automotive history as the first woman to set off on a groundbreaking journey around the world in a Ford Model T. And Lexie will now recreate the trip but all-electric.

Back then, Aloha used a petrol-powered Ford car and encountered obstacles which sometimes required unique solutions such as oxen to pull it across mud flats, sand and rivers in India, and human-powered help in China to pull it for miles due to civil warfare.

Lexie is now using an electric Ford Explorer for her journey – a pre-production prototype model as close as possible to what customers will experience when on sale in Europe next summer. This vehicle is tailor-made for adventure, keeping her connected, comfortable and ready for anything on the ultimate road-trip.

This journey will showcase the impressive capabilities of the all-electric Ford explorer. It will demonstrate how easy it is to charge the vehicle, how far it can go on a single charge, and how it performs in a variety of conditions

But there’s more to this journey than just the car. Lexie’s journey is also about breaking down barriers and inspiring others to pursue their dreams. She’s proving that anything is possible when you set your mind to it and that the only limits are the ones we impose on ourselves.
