DS Automobiles unveils CO2 absorbing fashion collection during Paris Fashion Week
During Paris Fashion Week, French premium car manufacturer DS Automobiles revealed its eco-conscious fashion collection in collaboration with emerging high-fashion brand EGONlab and London-based design research studio Post Carbon Lab.
The capsule collection with its bold eco slogans consists of four unisex pieces – a bomber jacket, a trench coat and two t-shirts. The products are treated with a photosynthetic coating that absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere. How this CO2 absorbing technology works – basically it’s made up of a living algae on the material absorbing the carbon dioxide in the surrounding atmosphere, emitting oxygen and turning the carbon into glucose. According to the creators, so far over the course of ten weeks during the dyeing and coating process, the collection has absorbed 1.452g of CO2, which is the same amount as a typical six-year-old oak tree over approximately six months.
“We are extremely excited to reveal our first eco-conscious fashion capsule collection. Premium style and innovation are at the forefront of the DS brand and something we believe should go hand-in-hand as we work towards a more sustainable future, offering innovative mobility solutions.” – Béatrice Foucher, CEO DS Automobiles
