MINI's visionary living concept
At the Salone de Mobile 2018, MINI presented the installation MINI LIVING - BUILT BY ALL in collaboration with the London architecture studio Studiomama. With the installation, a visionary living concept is presented that has been developed in a teamwork between residents and architects. These living concepts show creative and individual solutions for living with many possibilities and great flexibility in a small space in the city - true to the core principle of MINI "creative use of space".
The first habitable quarter with apartments, public spaces and communal areas of almost 8.000 square meters was created in a converted industrial building in Shanghai. The range of design, culture, gastronomy and innovative retail concepts is so diverse that the entire city is invited to become part of the community. In addition, the quarter has its own MINI car sharing fleet for flexible mobility. Until 2020 the innovative residential project is to be implemented in New York and Berlin.
Great living concept - we are looking forward to the implementation in Berlin and will keep you up to date.
Today’s standardised housing market is limited in its ability to meet the requirements of the individual. So MINI LIVING – BUILT BY ALL turns people into active creators and puts them at the heart of the design process. We believe that ultimately the quality of a living space is determined by how well the residents identify with their home.” – Oke Hauser, Creative Lead MINI LIVING
